Docs Running a server
Running on Windows
Running the server on Windows: the firewall, keeping the PC awake, and starting it with the PC.
LegacySFServer.exe runs on 64-bit Windows from its own folder. Nothing is installed.
The first runs
LegacySFServer.exe the first run makes server.key and stops
LegacySFServer.exe --register CODE the code from the control panel
LegacySFServer.exe and from now on
The first run also offers to let the server through Windows Firewall; Windows asks for an administrator. LegacySFServer.exe --firewall does it again later. Ctrl+C saves and stops the server.
Keep the PC awake
While it hosts, turn off sleep, and Windows Update's automatic restarts during the hours it runs. A server that goes quiet for 90 seconds leaves the list until it is back.
Start it with the PC
To start it again by itself after a reboot, add a task in Task Scheduler:
- Create Task, named for the server; Run whether user is logged on or not.
- Triggers: At startup.
- Actions: Start a program,
LegacySFServer.exe, with Start in set to the server's folder. - Settings: untick Stop the task if it runs longer than.
Your router
At home, forward the server's UDP port (27240) on your router to this PC, and give the PC a fixed local address. Ports and firewalls has the rest.
