Docs Running a server

The server's shop

What a server may sell and for how much, its capsules, the lobby's line, and the rules Team Vanilla keeps at every sale.

A server's Owner, Admins and Game Masters keep its shop: in the game (the staff panel's Shop) or in shop.cfg with the server stopped. A new server's shop is the game's own catalog.

What it may sell

  • Its packs' items: its own weapons, characters and parts, at any price in SP you choose (never free). They exist only on your server.
  • Base items, at or above Team Vanilla's price for the same length, for the lengths Team Vanilla offers (7, 30 or 90 days, or for good), and only while Team Vanilla's own shop sells them. A base item bought on your server is the player's on every server.
  • Its capsules, holding only its own items.

What Team Vanilla keeps

Every sale goes through Team Vanilla, with the player's own approval: this amount, this item, this server. A server holds no money, and these rules are checked at every sale, whatever shop.cfg says:

  • A base item is never sold below Team Vanilla's price, after any discount. A shop loaded with a lower price is lifted to the floor; when Team Vanilla raises a price, the floor rises with it.
  • No base item Team Vanilla does not sell: no admin-only, event-only or retired items.
  • Selling back and mending base items use the official rates on every server. A custom item never sells back for more than the player paid for it on that server.
  • Coins are sold only by Team Vanilla, at its rate.
  • A server cannot give SP or Coins to anyone.

The editor in the game

F9, Shop, five pages:

PageWhat it holds
Catalogweapons, forces, items and sprays: on sale or not, and up to four offers each (a length and a price). One step makes a gun or a force rentable for 7, 30 or 90 days off its for-good price
Coins and giftsa capsule coin's price, and what comes off anything bought for a friend (0 to 90%), in the server's own list
Capsuleseach capsule: its name, picture, coins a turn, in the machine or not, and its prizes with their weights, with the odds they come to beside them
Lobby linethe red line that pans along the bottom of every lobby page. While an event runs, its banner goes first
Duffle BagsTeam Vanilla's bags, the same in every server's Item Shop: each a name, a picture, an SP price and what it may hold, drawn by weight when it is opened from the inventory's Gift tab. Only the official server's Game Masters change them; on any other server the tab shows them to read

Save sends the whole shop; the server checks every number again, keeps it in shop.cfg and sends it to everyone signed in at once.

shop.cfg

The server writes it; it keeps only what differs from the game's own catalog: an [entry] for each thing sold differently, the coin's price, the capsules, the line.

name = Long Rifle Capsule
coins = 1
listed = true
prize = weapon <your weapon's code> 0 0 0 2      # kind, item, days (0: for good), from, to, weight

The capsules a new server's shop.cfg lists are the game's own, of base guns. On a community server a capsule may hold only that server's own items; Team Vanilla's capsules are the ones with base prizes.

A file that does not read is left alone and the game's own catalog is used; the log says why.

Taking an item away

  • Off sale: players who own it keep it, and nothing is refunded.
  • Removed (from the catalog, or its pack dropped): Team Vanilla refunds the players who paid for it, the whole price of a permanent item or the unused share of a rental. The server tells Team Vanilla, and Team Vanilla also sees it in the heartbeat, so an item cannot be dropped quietly.
