Docs Running a server

Yours and Team Vanilla's

What a server keeps and what Team Vanilla keeps, how matches count, and what happens when an item goes or a server closes.

What lives where

Team Vanilla keeps, for every serverYour server keeps, for itself
Sign-in, code name, rank and XPa player's role on your server
The record: kills, deaths, wins, losses, head shots and the restbans and mutes on your server
SP and Coins, the only moneythe custom items players own on your server
The base items a player owns, wherever bought, and the loadouttheir loadout overrides: the slots they filled with your items

accounts/ is not the players' accounts: nobody's account lives on your server, and there is no money in it. A player's loadout on your server lays your items over their own; a slot whose item is gone falls back to theirs, so no slot is ever empty.

Your server never sees a password: a player's game shows it a short-lived ticket Team Vanilla signed, and that is all your server learns about who they are.

How matches count

Matches on your server count toward players' rank and record like anywhere else, from the first match, Verified or not. XP and SP are worked out by Team Vanilla from your server's match report, by Team Vanilla's own rules: the same as an official server pays for the same match. Team Vanilla checks every report; one that could not have happened is refused, and SFLegacy Staff can take back what a server reported.

Your own events and multipliers can never touch SP, Coins or XP.

When an item goes

  • Taken off sale: players who own it keep it, and nothing is refunded.
  • Removed, from your catalog or by dropping its pack, or blocked by Team Vanilla: Team Vanilla refunds those who paid, the whole price of a permanent item or the unused share of a rental.

When a server closes

  • SFLegacy Staff close it: Team Vanilla refunds every SP and Coin ever spent on its own items and capsules, and tells each player by mail. Base items bought there are not refunded: they are the player's on every server.
  • It stays off for 60 days: it is closed the same way. Its owner is warned on the control panel at 30, 45 and 55 days. A closed server's id is never reopened; an owner who returns registers a new one, which starts with nobody owning anything there.

Recordings

Every match is recorded and kept 7 days in recordings/, for players who played in it and for staff.
